Vinos Baettig lavede deres første kommercielle årgang i 2017.

Punchy mineral whiff with impressive intensity. Wet stones and lemon peel. Such a taut, textured palate, cut through by sharp acidity. So bright and pure, yet tangy and austere. Really nervy, almost “metallic” and gastronomic!

Compared with the super austere 2021, the 2022 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Chardonnay feels a little rounder and juicier. It had a shorter élevage in barrel to keep the freshness. The alcohol is still a low 12%, and there's a very low pH of 2.99, but the wine has a different aromatic profile with some dry hay, pollen and beeswax. It has freshness and tension and citrus notes in the palate, as it's still very dry and has a chalky finish. - Luis Gutièrrez

The 2022 Chardonnay Viñedo Los Parientes was fermented in used barrels with native yeast where it remained right through the winter. Yellowy green in the glass. The austere nose offers gentle apple, herb, and lime notes with a whiff of acacia. The palate is concentrated with firm acidity before the delicate, creamy, long-lasting finish. - Joaquin Hidalgo

The 2021 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Chardonnay reflects the cooler year with even lower alcohol, 13%, and higher acidity (8.25 grams of tartaric acid per liter of wine). It was harvested the second half of April, which is very late for the region, as it's usually harvested in early April, which meant a slow and thorough ripening of the grapes. The difference with 2018 is that the end of the season was dry and the grapes were healthy and got a better development of aromas and flavors. There are no differences in the work in the winery: pressing of the full clusters, native fermentation in French barriques and 10 months of élevage. Pristine, fresh, chiseled and elegant, with purity and harmony, austere and dry, there's no room for sweetness here (or anywhere at this address!). It has integrated oak and is vibrant and salty. A bargain for the quality. - Luis Gutiérrez

Stone fruits, chalky stony notes and fresh white-peach aromas. A sense of ripe stone fruit on the palate with a subtle toasty note underneath. The acidity profile on this is magical, refreshing, salty, chalky and with a slight toasted note beneath. The potential of this vineyard is quite something! - Alistair Cooper MW

A different style to the previous vintage of Los Parientes. This shows nimbler, more lime-like white and green fruit with green apples, nectarines, green tea and some chamomile. Very cool, taut and vibrant with bright, mouthwatering acidity. Great texture and elegance. Think serious Chablis in terms of style.

The entry-level white is the 2020 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Chardonnay, produced with dry-farmed grapes from the Los Suizos vineyard in Traiguén first produced in 2019. 2020 was extremely warm and dry in most of winemaking Chile, but in Traiguén, it was moderately warm and "only" rained 815 liters, delivering a good crop of very healthy grapes that were picked early. The wine is low in alcohol (13%) and has a pH of 3.1 and 6.63 grams of acidity (measured in tartaric acid) and was produced fermenting the juice of the full clusters in barrel (10% new), where the wine matured for 10 months. This is subtle, elegant and varietal, with purity and in the house style of balance and harmony. The wine is clean and precise, with floral and citrus notes, transparent, with unnoticeable oak and great freshness. - Luis Gutierrez

The 2020 Chardonnay Baettig Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes, from Malleco, Traiguén, spent 10 months in French barrels and has a nose of verbena and orange blossom with hints of wood, yeast, lemon zest and basil. Fleshy in the mouth, it is pleasantly rich, fresh and long-lasting.

The 2019 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Chardonnay was produced with fruit from the Los Suizos vineyard in Traiguén, aiming for freshness and intensity. It's produced in a similar way as the top Chardonnay—wild fermentation in barriques and an élevage in 225- and 400-liter French oak barrels (16% of them new) for 11 months. This is a little riper, with 13.5% alcohol but keeping the high acidity. 2019 was a little warmer, but the wine keeps its poise, and there is no room for any exuberance here. It has serious notes of white peach and is a little nutty, without any tropical feelings whatsoever, but it's more floral and gentler than the Los Primos, trying to make it a little more approachable and easy to understand. The palate is sharp, textured and serious with a dry finish. What I like is that the wine feels very Chilean, something I cannot explain easily, but somehow you'd never confuse this with a Burgundy. It has an elegant profile. - Luis Gutierrez
