Always the first 1er cru that is ready to be bottled (in July), the 2019 Kammern Ried Renner 1ÖTW displays a radiant lemon-yellow color and opens with a beautifully clear, bright, intense and elegant, remarkably refined and distinctive bouquet of broom blossoms intertwined with flinty lemon aromas of crushed stones. Everything is perfectly intermingled and gives that distinctive, elegant and refined, dense and calm style. The attack on the palate is vibrantly fresh and still nervous (vinified in an old five-hectoliter oak vat), but the wine develops a dense, complex, finely salty and structured mid-palate with a long, intense and persistent finish that reveals fine tannins and characteristic salinity. This is an impressive Renner. - Stephan Reinhardt

Fresh yeast still plays uppermost in the aromatic register of this spicy wine. The palate, enhanced by slight spritz, then speaks of white pepper, crushed sage, lemon freshness and a subtle but insistent yeast. This is gorgeous, slender, savory and utterly moreish. - Anne Krebiehl MW

I love the precise balance of this rich and complex (also texturally) gruner veltliner, which glides over the palate, until you reach the tannins at the finish. Lovely white-fruit and delicate-spice aromas. Excellent aging potential.

Helles Goldgelb, Silberreflexe.

Michael Moosbrugger's intensely yellow-colored 2018 Ried Renner 1ÖTW is an impressive wine. Deep, fine and flinty on the ripe but coolish, precise and elegant nose with very discreet toast/mocha aromas, this is a rich and elegant Grüner Veltliner, with ripe and intense fruit and firm tannin structure. It is a full-bodied, generous and powerful, complex, tensioned and still very young but age-worthy white with persistent, stimulating salinity and grip. The 2018 should be cellared for another 2 or 3 years. - Stephan Reinhardt

The 2017 Ried Renner "1ÖTW" is lovely ripe but clear and fresh on the slightly flinty and oaky, very elegant and attractive nose. Lush and piquant but fine and elegant in the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, persistently piquant and salty Renner with good phenolic grip, perfect ripeness and a juicy, fruit-intense finish. Stimulatingly salty. An excellent Renner and clearly the best of the vintage. - Stephan Reinhardt

Bright light to medium golden colour. Pure nose, fresh pear and peach with ripe citrus and some floral hints. The palate is dense and fresh with vigorous fruit, fine extract, and a digest and very long finish packed with ripe yellow fruit. - Andreas Larsson

This wine's combination of ivy leaf and golden pear scents makes for a highly seductive nose. On the palate, bright, ripe lemon takes center stage. It lends an appetizing accent of freshness that complements the yeasty texture of the concentrated midpalate. - Anne Krebiehl MW

Tasted as a sample in June 2017, the 2016 Ried Renner 1ÖTW (from the bottom of the Gaisberg) is beautifully aromatic and flinty on the pure, fresh and elegant nose that is still a bit reductive but very well defined. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling yet pure, fresh and finessed Grüner Veltliner with a stimulating mineral grip and an intense as well as lingering minerality. The vines are 20 to 60+ years old and root in crystalline soils such as gneiss and mica with amphibolite. The 2016 is a classic of great purity, tension, finesse and elegance. - Stephan Reinhardt

The 2015 Ried Renner 1ÖTW offers a rich and perfectly ripe but still fine, elegant and flinty bouquet. The attack on the palate is fresh and piquant; the second impression is rich, ripe, juicy, pretty round, a bit sweet and intense due to the rich extract. However, the freshness does not move and takes the vintage on its wings, carrying it to a long and nicely tannic but also pure and salty finish. This is great Grüner Veltliner with food, even though it is a bit biter on the finish at the moment. - Stephan Reinhardt

Not yet very expressive but there are hints of pepper and pear, perfectly ripe, freshly picked purity. Much more spicy on the palate with a savoury, almost grainy quality. Perfect example of Grüner and very long rather than super-intense.

This installment of Moosbrugger’s Renner – last tasted soon after it was assembled in June 2016 ahead of midsummer bottling – was raised 70 percent in casks. The cooling green herbal and crunchy snap pea elements found in the corresponding Steinsetz are accentuated here, and the fruit takes a more northerly, not to mention brighter, turn, incorporating ripe muskmelon, but favoring white peach and rhubarb. An underlying savor of tobacco and lentil lends mouthwatering low tones to the proceedings. There is a flatteringly silken texture and an abundance of glycerol, but this is sleek in comparison with the Steinsetz. Cress and pepper are allied to a remarkable array of crystalline, alkaline, stony and saline mineral elements on a vibrant finish that milks the salivary glands and leaves the tongue tingling. - David Schildknecht

The 2014 Grüner Veltliner Renner 1ÖTW has intense and ripe fruit aromas on the nose, along with some spicy flavors. This Gruner is ripe and intense, very elegant and serious. Round and elegant on the palate, this full-bodied wine develops a good tension and structure combined with intensity and extract. This is powerful and promising.
