Marcel Lapierre, Morgon
Lapierre's 2020 Morgon offers up aromas of plummy fruit and raspberries mingled with hints of petals and spices. Medium-bodied, satiny and enveloping, its succulent core of fruit is framed by melting tannins and mouthwatering acids. This thirst-quenching, fruit-driven Morgon is one of the purest, most precise young wines I've tasted from this address in recent years. - William Kelley
Glistening ruby. Mineral-inflected red/blue fruits on the assertively perfumed nose, along with incense, exotic spices and fresh flowers. Alluringly sweet and penetrating, offering intense boysenberry and raspberry flavors braced by juicy acidity. Fine-grained tannins add spine to a wonderfully long, sappy finish that strongly repeats the floral and mineral notes. - Josh Raynolds
Bright magenta. An expressive, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits and candied flowers, and suggestions of smoky minerals and Asian spices add vivacity. Concentrated, seamless and alluringly sweet, offering juicy, mineral-laced raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors and a subtle white pepper quality that builds on the back half. Finishes with superb focus and tenacity, leaving an echo of sappy red berries behind. - Josh Raynolds
