Vinene lagres i 1/3 nye fade (½ for Charmes-Cha...

Vines mainly planted in the 1920s. Cool, clay spot next to Mazis and Chambertin so usually a bit closed. Very fresh and accessible. Very readable and charming. The friendly side of Gevrey! Nicely energetic. Very long. - Jancis Robinson

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is beautiful, wafting from the glass with notes of wild blueberries, blackberries, rose petal and wood smoke, elegantly framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, expansive and quite generous and gourmand in style, its tannins concealed by an ample core of fruit. Bachelet observes that this parcel, located between Mazis-Chambertin and Fonteny, possesses clay-rich soils that tend to give muscular, virile wines. To temper that tendency, he does few punch downs (a practice he started in 2014) and finds the results more elegant—a contention it would be difficult to dispute. - William Kelley

Medium red; less saturated than the old-vines village offering, as Bachelet avoids overextracting this cuvée. Subtle, inviting nose melds black raspberry, plum and game. Seriously rich, tactile wine with lovely sweetness and concentration to its dark fruit and floral flavors. Plenty of tannins here for a graceful evolution in bottle but not at all hard or dry today. Finishes with subtle, rising berry flavors and terrific length. This site features deep soil and good moisture retention so it never suffers from drought, said Bachelet, who compared this wine to the 2005 bottling, which he said was starting to drink well. - Stephen Tanzer

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Corbeaux has a refined and pure bouquet not unlike the Evocelles -- a true evocation of Pinot Noir -- pure, brilliant defined, elegant and effortless. The palate is showing a little more hand of the new oak than the Evocelles, although that will be integrated with time. Good body here, fine tannin and great length, and the tenderness on the finish is spellbinding. Load up as much as you can and remember to invite me when you pop one open. - Neal Martin

Vines mainly planted in the 1920s. Cool spot next to Mazis and Chambertin so usually a bit closed. Less substantial than the Evocelles and the oak shows through a little but presumably with time this will soften and mellow. Edgy for the moment. - Jancis Robinson

(from vines planted in the 1920s; production here was 45 hectoliters per hectare): Deep red. Reserved, musky aromas of raspberry, coffee and game. Sweet, suave and fine-grained, showing insidious intensity but a light touch to its berry and mineral flavors. This cold clay terroir is never stressed by drought, noted Bachelet. Finishes creamy and long, with very smooth tannins. This normally masculine wine is downright civilized in 2014, due in part to gentler extraction. - Stephen Tanzer

60% new oak. Vines mainly planted in the 1920s. Cool, clayey spot next to Mazis and Chambertin so usually a bit closed. Where we filmed in 1986 for Channel 4’s Wine Programme, Denis reminds me. Pure, scented and muscular. Very pure and beguiling. A little dry on the end but lovely balance. - Jancis Robinson

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Corbeaux has a more “airy” and perhaps more floral, feminine bouquet compared with the nascent Les Evocelles ’13. The fruit here leans a little more to the red side of the spectrum rather than black. The palate is structured and more masculine than the Les Evocelles. Beneath the mineral-rich black fruit lurks quite rigid, almost obdurate tannins, although there is superb tension in situ and the grip is almost gentle on the finish. This is the kind of Gevrey then sends tiny ripples of excitement down your back. - Neal Martin

Cool and bracing, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux boasts notable precision throughout. Today, the Corbeaux comes across as a bit austere next to some of the other wines in the range, which is not surprising for a cool site in a late-ripening vintage, but it does mean readers will have to be patient. Suggestions of sweet tobacco, cedar, mint and leather add the final shades of nuance. - Antonio Galloni
