




Barbaresco Asili, Cascina Luisin
100 % Nebbiolo fra 65 år gamle vinstokke fra vinmarken Asili. Asili er en af de allerbedste marker i Barbaresco. Amfiteater lignende stejl skråning med perfekt sydvest eksponering og jordbund bestående af kalk, ler og sand. Høstet i hånden med lavt udbytte og vinificeret på cement; 3 ugers maceration med en uges hyppig punch-down. Malolaktisk gæring og modning på store fade (20-50 hl) af slavonsk eg.
Meget aromatisk med aromaer af røde bær, kamfer, mint og roser. Velstruktureret med faste, finkornede tanniner og vidunderlig friskhed. Lidt lysere og mere forfinet end Rabajà.
Velegnet til alle former for kødretter - stegt eller braisseret - gerne med tæt sauce.

Ejendommen består af 8 ha vinmark med besiddelser i bl.a. Rabaja og Asili. Nebbiolo er den dominerende druesort, men der dyrkes også Barbera, Dolceto og Arneis. Alt i alt laves der bare ca 30.000 flasker om året!
Produktionen af Nebbiolo er ultra-traditionel efter nogle forsøg med mere moderne metoder. Bl.a. indkøbte man en rotorfermentator, der i dag bruges til Barbera og Dolcetto - ikke til Nebbiolo. M...

Just mid ruby. Perfumed, deep fruit slowly opening up like a fragrance. Succulent and concentrated on the palate but not entirely open yet. Beautiful, coating tannins and with the perfect dose of fresh acidity on the palate. - Walter Speller


Very pale ruby. Intense and perfumed on the nose and finely balanced on the palate with plenty of acidity and still youthful, compact fruit. Very long, fine, elegant and yet mouth-filling with rich finely ground tannins underneath the fruit. - Walter Speller


Ren, delikat og supermineralsk næse med fornem præcision. Sprødt og druetypisk frugtudtryk med kultiveret sødmefuldhed. Velkrydret med tilpas lakrids og lidt eksotiske frugter og et let rosenpræg. I munden med imponerende saftighed og med en sammensat, rig frugt, der allerede nu er givende. Betydelig aromarigdom og herligt modnede og alligevel kontante tanniner. Særdeles vellykket og letdrikkelig her og nu, men uden tvivl med en lang og lykkelig fremtid foran sig.


New leather, forest berry and spice aromas come to the forefront along with an earthy whiff of underbrush. On the taut, youthfully austere palate, fine-grained tannins accompany ripe raspberry, strawberry compote and grated nutmeg. Asili has limestone soils and the vines here are over 60 years old. Roberto Minuto at Luisin favours a well structured style of Barbaresco after a 40-day maceration. The fragrant nose is very delicate and almost febrile, but there's lovely floral raspberry fruit here. It's full-bodied and succulent, with ripe tannins and underlying acidity. The finish shows force and persistence, but is admirably balanced and classic.


Aromas of strawberries and cherries with earth and sweet-spice undertones. It’s medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins and bright acidity. Serious and focused with juicy character on the mid-palate. Flavorful finish with excellent length.


Just mid ruby. Deep, brooding nose. Perfumed cherry fruit and just the merest suggestion of oak, although this has only seen large casks. Succulent cherry palate with quite firm tannins and a big dose of acidity. A little austere on the finish, but this is still very young, and a little drying on the finish, yet long and multi-layered and embryonic. Age will give it the final polish. - Walter Speller

Farmed for over a century by the Minuto family, Luisin produces two Barbaresco wines. The winery used to be firmly in the modernist camp, but has reverted to long macerations in cement tanks, followed by traditional ageing in large casks. The red-fruited nose is juicy and vibrant but floral too. It's svelte and textured rather than weighty and powerful in the mouth, showing admirable freshness and bite, with a welcome briskness and zest. There are ripe tannins on the balanced, long finish.


Tasted blind. Barbaresco. Just mid ruby with bricky tinges. Aromatic, deep cherry nose and quite linear on the palate with lots of fine, powdery tannins. Burgundian approach and a little lean. Not sure if there is enough concentration for prolonged ageing, but nevertheless it’s gorgeous right now. - Walter Speller

Alluring Nebbiolo aromas of dark berry, purple flower, baking spice, truffle and herb slowly unfold in this wine. The savory, succulent palate doles out Marasca cherry, raspberry compote, cinnamon and licorice flavors against a backdrop of firm, refined tannins and bright acidity. - Kerin O'Keefe


The 2014 Barbaresco Asili is floral and nicely lifted, with bright acids and lively tannins that give the wine its sense of energy. Red berry and floral notes are pushed forward in this attractive, if slightly nervous, Barbaresco from Cascina Luisin. - Antonio Galloni


Aromas of exotic spice, crushed mint and iris lead the nose. It's firmly structured, delivering dried cherry, cranberry, licorice and espresso alongside tight fine-grained tannins. You'll also find a note of powdered sage on the firm close. It's still youthfully austere and needs time to unwind - Kerin O'Keefe



The 2015 Barbaresco Asili is an attractive wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared. Bright red cherry, rose petal, mint and pine notes are nicely lifted in this lithe, finely drawn Barbaresco. Medium in body and nicely poised, the 2015 Asili has a lot to offer. - Antonio Galloni
