The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Guettes 1er Cru has a strict, backward bouquet, the crushed stone more expressive than the tightly wound black fruit that loiters in the background. The palate is well balanced, and here, the fruit is more forward: raspberry, wild strawberry and a dash of white pepper. This feels cohesive, natural and balanced, almost lilting, toward the precise, satisfying finish. Très Savigny.
