Domaine Latour-Giraud, Meursault
Domaine Latour-Giraud er et lille domaine med 10 ha vinmark hovedsageligt med Chardonnay i Meursault - og først og fremmest 1. cru. Også husets røde besiddelser er overvejende 1 cru marker i Pommard, Volnay og Meursault. Selv om der ikke er nogen Grand Cru-marker i Meursault, så ligger landsbyen lige i hjertet af verdens bedste område for Chardonnay.

Some light green reflections in the primrose yellow colour. A stricter nose, perhaps a touch of sulphur. This may also appear more backward coming after the Charmes. Then a vast wealth of fruit on the palate and now we see the real wine. It maintains the herbal note I associate with Genevrières, alongside golden fruit at a perfect degree of ripeness. The fruit and the acidity weave in and out of each other. I would not want the fruit to be riper but it is full of charm as it stands, and kept in place by the precision of the structure. Clean pure yellow. The bouquet is over and above the Charmes. Juniper and verbena, depth and poise, concentration without heaviness. Then a pure white fruit with appropriate flesh. Not just intensity on the palate but depth of flavour as well. It is true that they are beautifully placed with their large plot of Genevrières Dessus, but even so, chapeau! Oak is present but perfectly integrated. Given the summer, I never imagined we would be able to achieve this freshness, this detail! - Jasper Morris MW
This too is sufficiently reduced to mask the fruit though discrete spice elements can be discerned. There is excellent volume and midpalate density ti extract the rich flavors that pack very good punch on the stony and surprisingly powerful finish that offers excellent length where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. - Allen Meadows
Full mid yellow, with a relatively accessible nose, a little bit buttery. This soon settles down and regains the lovely nuanced, mineral, slightly smoky character of Genevrières. There is plenty going on here, as the fruit opens out beautifully. I would not have wanted this to be any riper but as it is it presents so many different facets. A really complex, intriguing wine. Smoky, cool and elegant aromas are composed primarily og various white orchard fruit, acacia blossom, citrus rind, wood and a hint of exotic tea. The racy, intense and admirably concentrated flavors possess very good volume as well as an appealing minerality that adds a sense of lift to the sneaky long, balanced and firm finale.
